Oct. 17th & 18th
We almost didn’t make it to the first flight! The security line was big and 4oz salad dressing bottles didn’t make it through… We couldn’t find 2 seats together so on the first and longest flight, we had to travel separate. With the rushing I forgot to take my contact solution out and glasses to rest my eyes, so for 5 hours my contacts were stuck dry in my eyes and I couldn’t rest. I also forgot to take my book out and my sweater. I had sandals and I was freezing!
What a way to start!
The schedule was Hilo – Los Angeles -San Francisco – Seattle.
Finally we got to sit together on the last part, San Francisco to Seattle.
The clouds were so thick! so so thick… no visibility at all in Seattle. I’ve never seen anything like that. Dense solid blanket over the whole city.
We couldn’t land. The pilot went around and around, attempted to break through the clouds and suddenly accelerated the airplane upwards very fast. No way we could land.
Back to Portland to get some gas and try landing again.
This time we did. We arrived to Seattle 3 hrs later than we planned. Hurry to take a shower and get to Auction at the Westin Hotel.
We got there an hour and a half later so we couldn’t witness the “green” part of the auction where Dan’s piece was but it was fun anyways. The art was awesome, the silent auction was great, the live Auction was exhilarating! $60,000 plus art pieces sold right there in competition, all bidders! That was exciting to see! There was even a bidding for donation to the glass school that got to go over $200,000! …The food was yummy and beautifully presented and the people we met, great.
We went home around 11:30pm. We stayed at a AIRBNB ( B&B ). A room in he basement of a house. Bed super comfy, snuggling and joy in abundance!

Next morning we got up at 12pm! we needed that rest…and we were feeling jet lagged. We drove to Downtown to explore the city and have some “breakfast”. It was about 48 degrees!!! AND people were wearing skirts and sandals!
I was bundled up and I was freezing! We got the Fresh Market minutes before it closed at 5pm. So alive, so much life and color! We had a great time…

Today, we decided to wake up early – Whole Foods for breakfast and then to the Seattle Museum for: Peru Kingdoms of the Sun and the Moon. It was fantastic! Seeing all the history and the artifacts that were discovered in tombs. We are having a blast and getting so inspired!
Then, we drove about 1 hour north to Raven and Kelly’s house, Dan’s friends, glass artists. They care take Bill Morris’s house/farm. It was a treat! Wren, their 3 yr old son, was super warm and welcomed us with big hug. “Sushi”, their dog was super fun and energetic.
Raven and Kelly walked us through the Warehouse where Bill Morris keeps some of his glasswork. It was so inspiring to see this! They even gifted us with a couple of huge books with photographs of Morris’ art.
We also got to see some of Raven’s and Kelly’s artwork. Also, very beautiful and inspiring to see how they make their own tools to work the glass and how talented they are.
Dinner and sharing with the family was all so very nurturing. Wren is such a delight! He lives by his name. Such cuteness and smart little boy…
Since Raven’s house is a small house, they let us sleep next door, at Bill Morri’s house. We were so grateful for their generosity and their trust. We slept sooo good. Dan was visited by Morri’s in his dreams. We felt honored to be there. We had a bath, did yoga the next morning and had some time to re-charge.
Thank you Raven and Kelly! Thank you Wren and Sushi! We had fun.

We stopped at Winthrop last night. Looking for a hotel/cabin in the dark was an adventure. We made the best choice though, I am confident, as our choice led us to stay at a really nice Hotel with an amazing view of the river: Hotel Rio Vista.
It was so sunny, warm and clear this morning…. Yesterday afternoon and today we saw the sun for the first time since we arrived to Washington. Such a blessing…truly… sunshine is the best!
